Our school application for Erasmus 2023 funding was focused on offering opportunities to our staff and students for their personal growth, their improvement of their English language skills and our students´ lifestyle in terms of sustainability.
A group of 12 of our students (Jays and Voices) and one teacher, Eva Jahelková, worked on a topic dealing with reducing textile waste in frames of their Integrated Team Education program. They looked for students from a foreign country to cooperate with so they could compare their lifestyles with ours in terms of sustainability. We found such a partner in Turin- ITIS Avogadro Secondary School – where a similar group of students was interested in this very same topic. Our students visited their school in Italy, worked with them on a project focused on the sustainable lifestyle of young people, and laid the foundations for potential future cooperation. They practiced their English and learned about the culture and history of this Italian region.
Only thanks to the EU’s Erasmus+ funding, could we make these activities come true. We believe that by accomplishing the aims of this project, our teachers and students have moved forward and created a better and more academically challenging environment in our school.
OUR TEACHERS AND ERASMUS+
In the summer of 2023, two of our teachers, Barbora Ulrichová (CLIL- History) and Katarína Hricová (English language A1-B1, Natural Science) attended courses in Dublin, where they had the opportunity to improve their English and transfer some elements of CLIL education into their teaching at our school. They belong to the group of teachers who help our students with their projects (using English language sources) and they can now better serve students as project consultants.
Finland has had a very high reputation in education for many years, which can also be seen in its very good results in international testing. Therefore, our headmistress Dana Jančinová attended a course: Structured Educational Visit to Schools & Training Seminars in Finland. She has gained a lot of experience from observations in secondary schools in Helsinki and informed all our teachers about them. She motivated our teachers to implement some methods of critical thinking, cooperation and communication into their school plans in all subjects.
